Undergraduate & Graduate Scholarships are forms of aid that assist students in paying for their education. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. Interested donors may contribute to a scholarship fund that currently exists or may establish a fund to address their particular interests.Scholarships are typically funded in one of two ways:through an annual contribution or through an endowment.
Annually funded scholarships are made possible through our donors’ annual gifts.Funding a scholarship of this type is appealing to some donors as it only requires a one-time gift in any amount.Continuation of the scholarship is dependent upon the donor’s continued giving.Gifts made to annual scholarships are not invested and do not earn additional income. Any gift amount directed to our annual scholarships will provide direct assistance, typically during the next academic year, to deserving ECU students.
Endowed scholarships provide a continued source of assistance for our students and create a lasting legacy for the donor(s).A scholarship is considered endowed when funding reaches a minimum of $10,000.Gifts made to an endowed scholarship are invested and do earn additional income – it is the additional income that generates the scholarship provided to the student(s).Endowed scholarships are critical to East Central University as each generates predictable, growing streams of income to fund needed scholarships for deserving ECU students.
