Baseball Ends Season with Split Against Southeastern

Terrazas,David Senior David Terrazas hit 1.000 for the day against Southeastern.


ADA – The East Central University baseball team ended the 2015 season with a split against arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State at Ken Turner Field.

The Tigers (22-19, 12-13 GAC) first fell 6-12 in game one and then earned a 9-8 win in game two.

Senior David Terrazas led the team with a 1.000 average, four hits, one run and one RBI.  Senior Casey Chenoweth hit a walk-off single in game two and hit .333 for the day.  He tallied three hits, two runs and added four RBIs.

Game 2 – ECU 9, SEOSU 8
The Savage Storm (17-23, 13-12 GAC) took an early 0-1 advantage in the top of the first, but ECU countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  The Tigers scored with four singles and a sacrifice bunt for the 3-1 lead.

SEOSU tied the game at three in the second before ECU again gain the lead with one run in the bottom of the second.  Senior Ariel Adut led off with a single to second and was sent home on a double from senior Dustin Torres.

However, the Savage Storm quickly took the lead, 4-5, in the top of the third.  The game remained at 4-5 until the bottom of the fifth when the Tigers scored four runs to take an 8-5 lead.

Senior Cale Russell led off with a single and then Terrazas, senior Eric Swann and Adut were all walked to score the first run.  Torres drove in two runs with a single and the bases were reloaded with a walk to senior Nick Spini.  That allowed senior Garrett Donohoe to earn an RBI when he was hit by a pitch.

SEOSU then tied the game at eight, with two runs in the sixth and a run in the top of the seventh.

After the first out in the bottom of the seventh, senior Ty Huie got the rally going by getting hit by a pitch.  Spini was intentionally walked to set up Chenoweth for the walk-off single up the middle for the 9-8 win.

Game 1 – SEOSU 12, ECU 6
The Savage Storm took the early lead in game one and did not let it go the rest of the game.  SEOSU scored four in the first, one in the second and two in the fourth for a 0-7 advantage.

The Tigers got on the board in the fourth on singles from Ty Huie and a double from Chenoweth for a 1-7 score.

SEOSU added three more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 1-11 advantage.  Ty Huie kept things going in the sixth with a single and was sent home on a home run by Spini for a 3-11 score.

The Savage Storm scored their final run of the game in the seventh for a 3-12 disadvantage.

The Tigers tried to come back, scoring a run in the seventh and two in the sixth, but that was as close as they would get.
