Jamie Hart, advertising manager of the Daily Commercial and South Lake Press, has been named advertising director. In announcing the appointment, Publisher Ron Wallace said the new position reflected Hart's approach to the job as the newspapers' ad manager. "Jamie's philosophy is to put the client's needs, the advertiser, first," Wallace said. "If the advertiser prospers, then the community does as well." Wallace said Hart's advertising experience includes small and large markets, which serves the newspapers' customers needs. "Advertising and marketing is his specialty," Wallace said. Hart, 33, became the newspapers' advertising manager in October 2008. He came to the Daily Commercial and South Lake Press from Daytona Beach, where he worked as classified sales manager at the Daytona Beach News Journal. Hart received several awards during the five years he worked for the News Journal, including classified salesperson of the year. Hart also worked as a marketing consultant at the Ada Evening News in Ada, Okla. He is an Oklahoma native and graduate of Seminole State College in Seminole, Okla., and East Central University in Ada. Hart is a member of the Eustis Chamber of Commerce board of directors. He and his wife, Desiree, have a 4-year-old daughter and are expecting a baby in April. Hart said his wife's support enabled him to lead the department and he thanked her "for understanding." Hart also praised the advertising staff of the Daily Commercial and the South Lake Press. "It's an honor to lead a very dedicated and talented advertising department," Hart said. "Each account executive brings a unique talent to the newspaper business and each one serves our advertisers with passion."
